El Wingador Embarks On Food Trek Across America
Bill Simmons, the competitive eater best known as El Wingador, is embarking on an excursion that will find him dining at some of the best known (and not-so-well known) eateries across the United States.
So what are the details?
Simmons’ trip is part of a job involving the transporation of a friends’ vehicle to the West Coast. The five-time Wing Bowl champion recently joined Angelo Cataldi on Philadelphia’s SportsRadio 94WIP to discuss the particulars. Ideally, the eating establishments Simmons attends will serve as further inspiration for the launch of El Wingador restaurants. Simmons and his business partner, Joe Vallee, are in the process of securing funding for the first location. Naturally, Cataldi encouraged Simmons to call the show during the next week with daily updates in regards to his culinary exploits. Of course, Cataldi, a rabid In-N-Out Burger fan, encouraged Simmons to engulf as many burgers as he could, on the occasion Simmons sets foot in the billion dollar franchise.
The excursion will begin in Somers Point, New Jersey. Possible destinations include Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Chicago, Minneapolis, the Dakotas and Montana. The trip will conclude in Los Angeles, where Simmons will hopefully arrange a meeting with the Peter Berg-helmed company Film 45, who not surprisingly, has expressed interest in adapting Simmons’ biography “Snow On The Barb Wire,” into a screenplay. As a result, a possible motion picture could develop in the near future.
